China boosts innovation in the field of new materials

China's Minister of Industry, Li Lecheng, held a meeting on Thursday with representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises working in the field of new materials. The event focused on strengthening innovation and accelerating the development of key materials, as highlighted in the ministry's statement.
During the meeting, participants emphasized the strategic importance of modernizing the new materials industry to ensure the country's high-quality economic growth. The Ministry of Industry has identified the development of advanced basic materials, strategically important components, cutting-edge materials, and the integration of artificial intelligence with materials as priority areas of work.
The ministry plans to enhance policy coordination, ensure workforce training, and promote comprehensive joint innovation at all stages of value creation.
Representatives from eight companies attended the meeting, but their names were not disclosed.
The companies were encouraged to improve self-sufficiency and security in the field of key materials for critical industries, as well as to increase investment in research and development.
China continues to strengthen its position in basic technologies, placing special emphasis on advanced materials to achieve technological independence amid growing competition with the United States.
