The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced that the country is ready to increase imports of goods from the European Union. This statement was released on Friday following a meeting between China’s Minister of Commerce and the European Trade Commissioner on the sidelines of the World Trade Organization gathering in Cameroon.
During the talks, the Chinese side expressed hope that the European Union would ease restrictions on the export of high-tech products to China and refrain from politicizing trade issues.
It was also noted that China expects an objective and rational assessment of its economic development from the EU, and suggests that any disagreements or contradictions should be resolved constructively to promote the growth of bilateral economic and trade relations.
The statement from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce also voiced concern that some EU countries are using industrial policy and violating subsidy provision rules.
