Google will move Pixel production out of China by 2027
Google plans to completely move the production of its Pixel smartphones, as well as its watches and earbuds, from China to Vietnam and India by 2027 amid ongoing trade tensions between the US and China. The company expects Pixel shipments to grow by 8–10% this year, despite rising component costs.

According to published information, Google has notified its suppliers of its intention to completely move the production of Pixel smartphones, as well as watches and earbuds, out of China by 2027. The main new assembly sites will be Vietnam and India. This decision is linked to ongoing trade tensions between the US and China and will make Google the second major smartphone manufacturer after Samsung to fully separate its production processes from China.
The company made this decision following the successful launch of flagship Pixel smartphone production in Vietnam earlier this year. Vietnam has been entrusted with the complex stage of introducing new products (NPI), allowing devices like the Pixel 11 Pro to be assembled from scratch. This process is considered more challenging compared to manufacturing Pixel Watch or Pixel Buds. It is noted that Google faces less pressure to exit China compared to other companies, as Pixel smartphones are not sold on the Chinese market. Another factor influencing the production shift is the well-developed Samsung supply chain infrastructure in Vietnam, which serves as a model for Google.
It is also reported that Google expects Pixel smartphone shipments to increase by 8–10% this year compared to the approximately 12 million devices planned for 2025, despite rising memory chip costs. To improve negotiation terms with memory manufacturers Micron, Samsung, and SK Hynix, Google has combined its memory orders for cloud and AI businesses with its smartphone chip orders.
