DeepSeek has launched its first round of external funding, aiming to raise at least $300 million with a company valuation of no less than $10 billion.
The AI startup, owned by the Chinese hedge fund High-Flyer Capital Management, was previously financed exclusively by its parent company. High-Flyer Capital Management provided the necessary funding as DeepSeek developed its own artificial intelligence models.
Until now, DeepSeek had declined investment offers from leading venture capital funds and technology companies in China. Currently, the company is in talks with investors to attract external capital.
DeepSeek’s R1 artificial intelligence model, developed last year, drew attention from representatives in Silicon Valley and Wall Street. The company is now seeking additional funding to strengthen its position in AI model development.
