Samsung has confirmed that apps like WhatsApp and X can operate via satellite connection on supported Galaxy smartphones. Even without a mobile network, these devices retain access to essential communication tools.
Users of certain Samsung Galaxy models can now view a list of apps that work without a mobile internet connection. This list appears in the settings section called “Apps Ready for Satellite.”
The company collaborates with mobile operators in North America (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile), Europe (MasOrange in Spain, Virgin Media O2, Vodafone), and Japan (Docomo, KDDI, Rakuten Mobile, SoftBank). Unlike Apple, which works directly with satellite internet providers like SpaceX for Starlink, Samsung takes a different approach.
Satellite connectivity options vary by country. In some regions, satellite service only allows sending messages or contacting emergency services, while in others, users can make calls, send SMS, and access the internet.
In February, Samsung announced that the Galaxy S26 series will support satellite communication and plans to expand this service globally.
