Apple M5 Max: Benchmark Results and Performance Comparison
Processor Performance
The Apple M5 Max has delivered impressive results in Geekbench tests, outperforming most consumer x86 and Arm processors currently available on the market. Thanks to its updated Super and Middle (Performance) cores and an increased number of cores overall, this chip surpasses Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm solutions in the consumer segment.
Graphics Capabilities
In OpenCL and Metal tests on Geekbench, the M5 Max also demonstrated high graphics performance. The reviewed version is equipped with 40 GPU cores and scores 232,718 points in the Metal test, bringing it close to the level of the M3 Ultra, even though the latter has twice as many GPU cores. A direct comparison with Nvidia and AMD graphics cards is not entirely accurate, as Metal is not optimized for those solutions.
Comparison with Graphics Cards
The OpenCL test allows us to evaluate how the M5 Max competes with Nvidia and AMD graphics solutions. In this test, the chip scores 145,412 points, which is comparable to the mobile version of the GeForce RTX 5070. However, the RTX 5070 features 36 compute units (SM) and consumes significantly more power. Improvements in ray tracing enable the M5 Max to compete with Nvidia graphics cards even in gaming tasks.
