Samsung is preparing an updated Privacy Display feature that will allow users to hide specific parts of the screen. Samsung has introduced an updated Privacy Display feature, which first appeared in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. According to reports, this new version of the technology requires new hardware and will likely be implemented in the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra model.
Based on available information, the company has not confirmed whether the Privacy Display version showcased at MWC belongs to the second generation of the technology. A Samsung Display representative clarified that the features demonstrated at the booth using Flex Magic Pixel are already available in the current display version and do not require additional hardware. Therefore, this is not a new generation or version 2 of the FMP technology.
The Privacy Display function allows users to hide the contents of the screen or specific parts of it from prying eyes using both hardware and software solutions. In the Galaxy S26 Ultra, this feature became one of the device’s key highlights, providing protection for confidential information such as passwords and notifications. Recently, at MWC, a version of Privacy Display was shown that lets users customize which parts of the screen are hidden, while the rest remains visible. Published photos show devices where either half or a third of the screen is concealed.
Samsung has stated that the updated feature will only be available on new devices, as it requires new hardware to function. This version will not be implemented in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to receive the updated Privacy Display. There are also plans to introduce new silicon-carbon batteries and significant camera improvements in the Galaxy S27 series.
Additionally, it has become known that the company is planning to transition all Galaxy devices to Exynos processors. Although the timeline for this transition has not been specified, the Galaxy S27 series may feature more models powered by Samsung’s own chips.
