Details of the new Apple M5 Pro and Max chips have emerged
A recent leak has revealed details about the Apple M5 Pro and M5 Max processors: the new chips promise up to a 20% performance boost and improved graphics, but with increased power consumption under full load.
Crius
A recent leak has revealed new details about the Apple M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. Both chips feature Super and Medium cores, with the Super cores reaching a maximum frequency of 4.61 GHz.
Apple officially introduced the M5 Pro and M5 Max alongside the latest MacBook Pro models, but only some technical specifications were made public. Typically, more detailed information about such processors appears in Geekbench and other benchmark results, but this new leak on Baidu has provided additional insights into the internal design of these chips.
Architecture and Performance
The M5 Pro and M5 Max are built on the Fusion architecture, which utilizes TSMC’s SoIC-MH 2.5D packaging technology. This approach combines processor and graphics modules using high-speed interfaces. The new chips are expected to deliver around a 10% performance boost in single-threaded tasks and up to 20% in multi-threaded applications. Graphics performance is projected to increase by approximately 25%.
Power Consumption
Energy consumption for single-threaded tasks is expected to remain at previous levels. However, the increased number of cores will lead to higher power usage for the M5 Pro and M5 Max when all computational blocks are fully loaded.
