The OpreX Open Automation SI Kit is designed to accelerate the implementation of open process automation at enterprises by enabling standardized communication, scalability, and vendor-independent system integration.
Yokogawa Electric Corporation has announced the certification of its OpreX Open Automation SI Kit for open process automation systems, confirming its compliance with the OPC Unified Architecture profile of the Open Process Automation standard. This marks the first such certification in the process automation industry.
The Open Process Automation (OPA) initiative is led by the Open Process Automation Forum, which is part of The Open Group. OPA aims to promote the adoption of an open, secure, and interoperable process control architecture, allowing flexible integration of equipment and software from various manufacturers.
The ability to build systems without being tied to a single supplier ensures flexibility and scalability of solutions.
The OPC UA certification, issued by the OPC Foundation, confirms that version 1.02.10 of Yokogawa’s Open Automation SI Kit meets the OPC UA client/server profile as defined in the O-PAS standard. Certification to the O-PAS OPC UA profile guarantees that systems equipped with the Open Automation SI Kit provide reliable, standardized communication and data exchange, as well as compatibility between O-PAS components supplied by Yokogawa and other manufacturers.
As a member of the Open Process Automation Forum, which includes 95 companies and organizations, Yokogawa has carried out a number of demonstration projects related to OPA in collaboration with major oil companies.
