Maersk plans to open a 57,300-square-meter order fulfillment center near Boston to serve a major e-commerce client. The client's name has not been disclosed. The new facility, valued at $100 million and located in Hopedale, Massachusetts, is set to begin operations in August and will be able to process up to 330,000 units per day during peak periods. The center is equipped with conveyor and sorting systems developed in collaboration with the client to meet their specific requirements.
The opening of the Massachusetts center aligns with Maersk’s strategy to expand integrated logistics solutions that combine transportation, warehousing, fulfillment, and distribution services.
The center will provide high-volume order processing and delivery across the Northeastern United States, ensuring fast, reliable, and scalable service during periods of peak demand.
Maersk is expanding its logistics network by adding new warehouses and ground operations, moving beyond its traditional focus on ocean shipping. The company is prioritizing partnerships and mergers and acquisitions to develop omnichannel solutions for order fulfillment and e-commerce capabilities.
Maersk operates several fulfillment centers across North America, including in the Greater Los Angeles and Inland Empire regions, Savannah (Georgia), Miami, and Chicago. Last year, the company also opened a 35,800-square-meter facility in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
