CriusFramework has sharply increased the prices of laptop memory.

Framework has nearly doubled the prices of LPCAMM2 RAM modules for the Laptop 13 Pro. The 32 GB module now costs $800, while the 64 GB version is priced at $1,600. This sharp increase is due to a sudden rise in memory supplier costs, forcing the company to revise the configurations of some pre-orders. The laptop is scheduled to launch at the end of July.

Reasons for the Price Increase

Amid an ongoing memory market crisis, Framework was compelled to significantly raise the prices of 32 GB and 64 GB LPCAMM2 modules for the Laptop 13 Pro. The new prices were announced shortly before the first devices were set to ship. The price hike is linked to an unexpected surge in supplier costs, which led to the need to review both new orders and some existing pre-orders.

Changes in Configurations and Memory Allocation

Due to a limited supply of 64 GB modules, the company is distributing them in batches. For orders placed after certain batches, the 64 GB configuration has been switched to 32 GB at the previous price. The remaining 32 GB modules are being allocated to DIY Edition Mainboard pre-orders up to a certain batch, after which subsequent orders will be switched to 16 GB at the old 16 GB price. Currently, there is no pre-configured Core X7 Ultra with 16 GB of memory, but this option is expected to be added later.

Current Prices and Future Changes

Framework will continue selling 16 GB modules at $239 until the current stock runs out, after which the price will also increase. At present, the 32 GB module price has risen from $439 to $800, and the 64 GB module from $849 to $1,600.

Price Changes for Other Components

The price increases are not limited to memory. Framework is also raising prices for X7 and X9 systems, as well as motherboards, due to higher chip costs, Windows license fees, and premium memory and storage modules in Ryzen AI 300 configurations. However, prices for some components, such as 48 GB DDR5 and certain SSDs (for example, SN850X 8 TB and SN7100 1 TB), have been reduced. At the same time, the SN850X 1 TB and SN7100 4 TB models will become more expensive.

Pre-Order Policy

For unfulfilled pre-orders that include components with reduced prices, the cost will be lowered. For orders where component prices have increased, the company will honor the original price at which the order was placed.

Delivery Timeline

Deliveries of the Laptop 13 Pro to customers have not yet begun. The company plans to start shipping the laptop at the end of July and will finalize prices a week before devices are dispatched.

Overall Market Situation

Due to shortages of memory and SSDs driven by advances in artificial intelligence technologies, component prices continue to rise. Framework is striving to maintain favorable conditions for customers wherever possible.
