Exports of petroleum products from the United States reached a record high of 8.2 million barrels per day last week, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
The increase in shipments is linked to rising demand for American diesel fuel, whose export volume also hit an all-time high. The U.S. has become one of the main suppliers of fuel—including diesel, jet fuel, and gasoline—to global markets.
The supply shortage emerged after the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which disrupted traditional fuel delivery routes and increased the global market's reliance on American exports.
