Economists have raised their inflation forecast for Mexico
The Central Bank of Mexico has released updated forecasts: inflation by the end of 2026 is expected to be higher than previously estimated, while economic growth is projected to be slightly lower. However, the outlook for the peso exchange rate has improved.

On Monday, the Central Bank of Mexico released its monthly survey of economists, presenting updated forecasts for inflation and economic growth over the next two years.
Inflation Forecasts
Expectations for the inflation rate at the end of 2026 were revised upward, from 4.22% to 4.37%. The inflation forecast for the end of 2027 remained unchanged at 3.82%.
Economic Growth Estimates
The economic growth forecast for 2026 was lowered from 1.44% to 1.35%. Meanwhile, GDP growth expectations for 2027 were slightly increased, from 1.79% to 1.82%.
Currency Expectations
By the end of 2026, the Mexican peso is projected to trade at 18.02 per US dollar, a stronger level compared to the previous estimate of 18.11. The exchange rate forecast for the end of 2027 was also adjusted, from 18.65 to 18.55 pesos per dollar.
Methodology
The data represent the average forecasts of 43 economists who participated in the survey conducted by Banco de México.
