A British company has signed a contract to supply subsea equipment for a shallow-water gas project in the southeastern region of Australia.
JDR Cable Systems has entered into an agreement with Amplitude Energy to deliver approximately 18 kilometers of hydraulic subsea control cables for the East Coast Supply project, located off the coast of Victoria. The project involves the phased development of several small gas fields in the Otway Basin, near the existing Casino Henry Netherby (CHN) facility, which is connected to the Athena gas processing plant. The fields being developed include Annie, Henry, Heera, Juliet, and Nestor.
The contract includes an option for an additional 13 kilometers of cables, contingent on successful drilling. The supply package comprises thermoplastic electro-hydraulic control cables for production, as well as associated distribution equipment, including cable termination assemblies, cable end fittings, and both electrical and hydraulic connector lines.
The equipment will be delivered on reels for transport to Australia, in line with the offshore installation schedule planned for late 2027. Manufacturing of the cables and distribution equipment will take place at JDR’s facility in Hartlepool, United Kingdom.
Over the past 12 months, the Otway Basin has seen increased activity, driven by rising domestic demand for gas in southeastern Australian states.
