Chris Feland, an advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, is being considered as the leading candidate for the position of chief economist in the Donald Trump administration. If appointed and confirmed by the Senate, Feland will take on the role of Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers.
In this position, he would succeed Steven Miran, who officially left the post in February. In fact, Miran had already stepped down from his position back in September, when he was confirmed to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve System.
Since Miran's departure, the duties of Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers have been carried out by Vice Chair Pierre Yared. The Council of Economic Advisers serves as the main economic think tank for the White House.
