Marvel’s Spider-Man Will Remain Exclusive to PlayStation and PC
Despite Sony's multiplatform initiatives, the Marvel’s Spider-Man series will remain unavailable on Xbox and will continue to be exclusive to PlayStation and PC. Sony’s major single-player projects are still focused on maintaining the unique appeal of their platforms.

Games from the Marvel’s Spider-Man series are unlikely to ever appear on Xbox consoles. Insomniac Games has officially ruled out the possibility of these PlayStation exclusives coming to Microsoft’s platform. Most of Sony’s single-player projects remain available only on PlayStation 5 and PC.
Although some former PlayStation exclusives have made their way to Xbox, the Spider-Man games remain an exception. On social media, Insomniac Games representatives stated that the chances of ports coming to Xbox are extremely slim. However, it is expected that new Microsoft hardware based on Windows will be able to support PS5 and PC games.
The Release History of Marvel’s Spider-Man
The original Marvel’s Spider-Man debuted on PlayStation 4 in 2018, with a remastered version for PS5 released in 2020. In 2022, the series became available to desktop and portable PC users. In 2023, Spider-Man 2 followed the same strategy: the PS5 version will launch on Steam and the Epic Games Store in 2025. Unfortunately, Xbox Series X|S owners are once again left without access to these games.
Back in 2017, Insomniac Games claimed that the first Spider-Man game would “never come to Xbox or PC.” However, this statement turned out to be only partially true—Sony eventually released the exclusive on Windows.
Sony’s Multiplatform Projects
While Sony, like Microsoft, is actively developing multiplatform projects, its approach to single-player and multiplayer games differs. For example, Helldivers 2 is already available on Xbox, and Bungie is preparing to release Marathon on a competing platform in March. However, both of these projects are live-service multiplayer games, which Sony clearly separates from its story-driven single-player exclusives.
Sony’s Stance on Exclusives
Hermen Hulst, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, has previously expressed skepticism about the possibility of key PS5 titles, such as Ghost of Yōtei, coming to Xbox Series X|S. In a June 2025 interview, he noted that major single-player projects “demonstrate the performance and quality of PlayStation hardware.” This allows the company to optimize the experience for its consoles and encourage consumers to choose their systems.
The Future of Games on Xbox
Fans who support Microsoft’s gaming direction can expect a broader selection of games. Portable devices like the ROG Ally are already compatible with Spider-Man games. Reports suggest that the next Xbox console will run on a modified version of Windows, which will likely allow the use of alternative stores, including Steam.
Thus, despite the growth of multiplatform initiatives, Marvel’s Spider-Man will most likely remain outside the Xbox ecosystem, while Sony’s key single-player exclusives will continue to reinforce PlayStation’s unique identity.
