Garmin has released a new update for several of its premium smartwatches, which is now rolling out globally. The update introduces various changes, including measures to prevent accidental system restarts.
In recent months, the company has issued several updates for the Fenix 8 series, even after the launch of the newer Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro models. Notably, on September 10, software version 23.31 was released for the Fenix E and Fenix 8 models, but the update has not yet been made available for the Fenix 8 Pro.
Soon after, a similar update became available for the Enduro 3 watches. While the Fenix 8 Pro is still awaiting a stable release, Garmin continues to work on the beta program with the next v23.xx build.
Beta version 23.32 was released just a day after the stable 23.31 version. This update included only minor bug fixes. In contrast, the new version features 22 change points, though most of them were already present in version 23.31.
Beta version 23.34 introduces four new changes compared to previous 23.xx versions, two of which are related to music playback via Spotify. At this time, there is no information on when the new 23.xx beta branch will be promoted to a stable software release.
Changes in Beta Version 23.34:
Added voice command functionality activated by the phrase "OK Garmin".
Fixed a potential issue with Spotify music playback after switching tracks using connected Bluetooth headphones.
Resolved a possible device shutdown when switching playlists in Spotify.
Fixed a potential device shutdown during HIIT activity tracking.
