Sony is preparing to unveil a new Xperia device, with the presentation set to take place in less than 24 hours. In May, the Xperia 1 VIII replaced the Xperia 1 VII, aiming to compete with flagship models like the Galaxy S26 Ultra and other smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The event on August 25 is expected to focus on the launch of the new Xperia 10 model, as recent leaks have suggested.
At the same time, the company is also working on releasing another smartphone under the Xperia brand. Earlier this month, three unannounced Xperia model numbers were discovered in the GSMA IMEI database. It is believed these numbers correspond to the following regional versions:
- Japan — XQ-H44 (PM-1545-BV)
- Europe — XQ-HH54 (PM-1540-BV)
- Rest of the world — XQ-HH74 (PM-1541-BV)
Later, three more variants were spotted, and the previously known three models were confirmed in other databases. Notably, the Travel SIM service added references to PM-1542-BV, PM-1543-BV, and PM-1544-BV.
According to available information, these designations refer to Xperia 1 IX versions for the Docomo, AU, and Softbank carriers. Thus, it appears that Sony will once again refrain from officially selling the Xperia 1 for yet another generation in some markets.
