China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL) has announced a tender for the basic design of four high-efficiency jack-up drilling rigs.
According to the tender conditions, the winner must, within three and a half months after signing the contract, complete and submit to the shipowner for approval the technical specifications, drawings, and related technical documentation for the main equipment and construction works. These documents are required for preliminary inquiries at shipyards.
The basic designs for the jack-up rigs, excluding operational manuals, must be completed and reviewed by the shipowner within six months from the date the contract is signed.
Applications for participation in the tender are scheduled to be accepted on August 12, 2026.
The project requirements specify that the rigs must be designed to operate at depths of up to 60.96 meters, with the possibility of upgrading to 121.92 meters, and a maximum drilling depth of 10,668 meters. The hull of the rig should be between 70 and 72 meters long, approximately 68 to 71 meters wide, with a height of 8.35 to 9.5 meters, and the leg length should be about 108.5 meters, with the option to extend to approximately 166 meters.
Tender participants must have experience in providing basic design services for jack-up rigs.
On June 30, the company announced that its board of directors had approved the technical and economic justification for the construction of four high-efficiency jack-up drilling rigs. The same announcement noted that the board also approved the technical and economic justification for the construction of 59 vessels for servicing oil fields, covering six different types of ships.
