Garmin has updated its firmware: improved stability and audio fixes
Garmin has released a beta update for several premium smartwatches, focusing on improved stability and bug fixes. The update also enhances the performance of the audio system and voice notifications.
Crius
Garmin has released a new beta software update for several of its premium smartwatch models. Version 23.185 is now available for the Garmin Fenix 8 AMOLED, Fenix 8 Solar, Enduro 3, Quatix 8, and Fenix E devices. In the official changelog, this build is listed as version 23.18, despite the three-digit suffix in the revision number.
Availability and Limitations
This update is only available to participants in the Garmin Beta program, as it is a test version. As a result, the ECG recording and analysis feature is temporarily disabled—this is a standard limitation for all Garmin beta releases and is not unique to this particular build.
Main Changes
No new features have been added in this update. The primary focus has been on improving device stability and fixing bugs. Compared to the previous version 23.15, several causes of unexpected reboots have been addressed, including issues that could occur when saving activities, playing music during workouts, or shortly after automatic dive detection.
Audio Feature Improvements
This update also brings enhancements to the audio system. An issue was fixed where, after disconnecting paired headphones, playback would switch to the built-in speakers. Voice notifications have also been improved: Fenix 8 models can now announce the time and date, and LiveTrack messages for viewers are now read out in full without being cut off.
