A leading European wind farm developer, recently acquired by TotalEnergies, has announced the departure of its CEO amid ongoing integration into the French energy giant’s structure.
Felix Grolman stated that he will step down as CEO of VSB Group at the end of the month. VSB, headquartered in Dresden, Germany, was founded in 1996. The company develops wind and solar power plants as well as energy storage facilities across Europe. According to its website, VSB has built more than 750 wind turbines and 30 solar power plants, with a project portfolio exceeding 20 gigawatts. The company employs over 500 people in six countries.
TotalEnergies acquired VSB at the end of 2024 for €1.6 billion ($1.7 billion). Prior to that, VSB was owned by the Swiss investment group Partners Group, which had controlled the company since 2020. The deal was finalized in April of last year.
Grolman led VSB for three years and oversaw the company’s integration into TotalEnergies. Over the past 16 months, the integration of VSB’s renewable energy assets with TotalEnergies was completed, resulting in a unified organization with clear plans for the future.
Grolman did not specify his future career plans but promised to announce his new position soon.
The company noted that Grolman’s departure is part of a planned transition following the completion of VSB’s integration into TotalEnergies’ renewable energy division. Due to the successful integration and changes in management structure, appointing a new CEO for VSB is not required.
