At the Xbox Games Showcase, Gears of War: E-Day was announced as the next installment in the popular series. During the presentation, it was revealed that the game will be an Xbox exclusive. The decision for timed exclusivity was made shortly before the announcement, but there are reports suggesting this status may only be temporary.
Speculation about Gears of War: E-Day launching on other platforms arose after information appeared on the PEGI website, where PlayStation 5 was listed among the platforms. It was also reported that a Universal Product Code (UPC) was assigned to a physical PS5 version of the game, which could indicate plans for a future release on that platform, similar to what happened previously with Starfield.
Earlier, it was assumed that Gears of War: E-Day would launch simultaneously on PC, Xbox, and PS5. A brief listing for the game on Walmart US also hinted at a possible multi-platform release. After the official announcement of Xbox exclusivity, information surfaced about a working PlayStation version, though it remains possible that this version may never be released.
Given the PEGI listing, the assigned UPC, and the existence of a PS5 build, there is a chance that Microsoft could eventually release Gears of War: E-Day on PlayStation. However, it is also possible that these developments will not result in a release on other platforms, and the project will remain exclusive to Xbox.
