The Brazilian independent company Prio plans to begin oil production from the fourth and final well at the Wahoo field, located in the oil-rich Campos Basin, in the coming days.
Production at the Wahoo field started in March, when the first and second wells were brought online just a few days apart. The third well began operating in early April. Currently, equipment installation is being completed on the fourth well, after which production is expected to commence.
Once the fourth well is operational, the company intends to cap daily output at Wahoo at around 40,000 barrels of oil.
In May, Prio’s total production amounted to 164,800 barrels of oil equivalent per day, which is 5% lower than the April figure of 173,400 barrels. The decrease is due to the need to replace the gas lift line at the Frade field, which led to the temporary shutdown of three wells and a reduction in output by about 7,000 barrels per day. The replacement work and full restoration of production at Frade are expected to be completed by the end of June.
In addition to the Wahoo and Frade fields, Prio also operates at the Peregrino, Albacora Leste, and Polvo-Tubarao Martelo fields, all of which are also located in the Campos Basin.
