Crius
In recent years, alongside the release of new games, there has been a growing trend of updating classic titles through remasters and remakes. The original Hitman trilogy has now joined this wave, with a remaster announced for release in 2027 on major gaming platforms, with one notable exception.
Development and Features of the Remaster
The updated trilogy will include Hitman: Codename 47, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, and Hitman: Contracts. Development is being handled by Saber Interactive in collaboration with IO Interactive, the creators of the original games. Previously, Saber Interactive (via Aspyr Media, Inc) has worked on remasters of well-known series, including Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered, and Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered.
According to official information, the remaster will feature enhanced graphics, updated character models, more detailed environments, and high-resolution textures. Players will be able to switch between modern and original graphics, and new features such as a photo mode will also be added.
Platforms and Potential Releases
Hitman Classic Trilogy Remastered is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC (via Steam). Currently, there is no information about support for Nintendo Switch or Switch 2, despite these consoles being technically capable of running similar projects.
Given that other Saber Interactive remasters are available on Switch and Switch 2, there is a possibility that the Hitman remaster could come to Nintendo consoles in the future. There is also a chance that a mobile version may be released later, as was the case with Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, which arrived on mobile devices two years after its initial release on other platforms.
