Crius
If Google Pixel smartphone owners have experienced accelerated battery drain after the March 2026 update, a solution to this issue has not yet been provided. It was expected that the May update would fix this defect, but the problem still persists.
Reduced Battery Life After the March Update
Following the March update, users of various Pixel models, including the Pixel 10 and devices up to the Pixel 7 series, began to notice a decrease in battery life. Rapid battery drain occurs even with standard smartphone usage, and attempts to resolve the issue using basic troubleshooting methods have not been successful.
The May Update and Its Features
The May update for Pixel devices running Android 16 is being rolled out gradually and will become available over the next few weeks, depending on the model and carrier. This update includes fixes for several bugs, such as resolving camera app crashes when recording video and adjusting zoom levels simultaneously, as well as addressing screen flickering and display issues that could cause the image to appear blurry or freeze.
Among the fixes is an update related to the battery, but it only addresses slow wireless charging when the battery level is between 75% and 80%. The main issue of rapid battery drain that appeared after the March update remains unresolved.
Awaiting Further Fixes
Currently, the changelog does not mention a solution for the battery life problem. Users experiencing accelerated battery drain will have to wait for the next patch. The issue has already been registered on the company’s official Issue Tracker website, but there is no information yet on when a fix will be released or when significant progress can be expected.
