Samsung Galaxy S26 received a record-high repairability score
A recent teardown of the Samsung Galaxy S26 revealed the device’s high repairability, thanks to its modular design and the ease of replacing components. This approach reflects the growing trend toward increased durability in modern smartphones.
Crius
A recent teardown of the Samsung Galaxy S26 smartphone revealed that the device received a high repairability score—9 out of 10 points. This impressive result was achieved thanks to the ease of replacing the battery and other components. The S26 Ultra model previously received a similar score, highlighting Samsung’s commitment to improving the longevity of its devices.
Design and Repairability Features
During the disassembly of the base Galaxy S26 model, its modular internal layout was noted, which simplifies maintenance. The smartphone earned top marks for the availability of spare parts, the simplicity of battery replacement, and the ease of swapping out various components, including the USB-C charging port. However, in the “internal design” category, the score was slightly lower due to the time required for certain types of repairs.
Industry Trends
The high repairability rating of the Galaxy S26 reflects a broader industry trend toward making mobile devices easier to repair. Recent iPhone series have also shown improvements in this area, particularly by simplifying battery replacement in line with new standards.
Comparison with Other Models
Last year, the Galaxy S25 also received a 9 out of 10 repairability score, while the iPhone 16 was rated at 7.5 points due to its design features and the more complicated process of replacing the charging port.
It is expected that next year’s Galaxy S27 will come even closer to achieving the highest possible repairability rating.
