Samsung will add new AI features to the Galaxy S25
Samsung is preparing to bring advanced camera features and improved AI document scanning to the Galaxy S25 series, previously introduced in the Galaxy S26. These innovations will enhance photo quality and make working with documents easier.
Crius
Samsung plans to expand the functionality of its Galaxy S25 smartphone series by introducing features that first appeared in the Galaxy S26 lineup. The main improvements focus on camera performance, aiming to enhance photo quality and make document scanning easier.
New Camera Features
The Galaxy S26 series brings several updates compared to previous models. All three devices in this lineup now feature an improved virtual aperture function, allowing users to adjust background blur (bokeh) through software. While this feature is already present in the Galaxy S25, it is currently limited in scope. Soon, support for the virtual aperture is expected to extend to the telephoto lenses (3x and 5x) on the Galaxy S25 Ultra via the ExpertRaw app.
The virtual aperture enables users to control the level of background blur using software, since physically changing the aperture on smartphones is not possible, unlike with DSLR cameras. This feature debuted in the Galaxy S25 and has been further refined in the Galaxy S26.
AI Document Scanning
The Galaxy S25 series is also set to receive an AI-powered document scanning feature. This functionality is expected to be available for devices up to and including the Galaxy S25. Currently, all Android smartphones can scan documents using built-in tools or Google Drive. In the Galaxy S26, AI document scanning allows users to add translations, text, drawings, and also supports basic multi-page scanning.
Release Timeline
The exact release dates for these new features on the Galaxy S25 have not yet been announced. However, Samsung continues to integrate advanced capabilities into its previous flagship models.
