The film "Super Mario Galaxy" from Nintendo and Illumination features well-known characters from the franchise. A mention of a possible new antagonist, who might team up with Bowser Jr. to thwart Mario and Luigi’s efforts to save his father, recently appeared on the website of a British cinema.
With each new trailer, the film’s cast continues to grow, and it’s possible that another villain will join the lineup. According to available information, the Everyman Cinema chain may have accidentally revealed an additional character in the movie’s description. It is suggested that this villain, familiar from previous games, could act alongside Bowser Jr.
An alternative description of the Illumination Entertainment project was posted on the website of a London cinema. It states that after defeating Bowser and saving Brooklyn, Mario faces an alliance between Wario and Bowser Jr. Together with his friends and Yoshi, Mario must stop their plans to take over the world.
This description differs from most official synopses, though there have been previous mentions of Wario. In September 2025, a similar text was published on the Instagram page of Cinepolis El Salvador.
It remains unclear whether the cinemas accidentally revealed the film’s character lineup. Everyman is not known for being an unreliable source, and both cases may be linked to information Nintendo plans to announce after the release of the next promotional trailer.
In the film, Bowser Jr.’s potential ally seeks to free his imprisoned and shrunken father. Wario’s role in the story has not yet been disclosed. The character first appeared in 1992 in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins for Game Boy. Wario and Prince Koopa Troopa have met in various Nintendo games, mainly in sports and entertainment titles.
If the information about the new antagonist is confirmed, the question remains: who will voice Wario? In 2023, Kevin Afghani replaced Charles Martinet as the voice of Wario for WarioWare: Move It!. There has also been discussion about Danny DeVito, who has shown interest in the role.
The premiere of "Super Mario Galaxy" is scheduled for April 1, 2026. Nintendo is expected to provide more details before the film’s release.
