The upcoming Pokémon Day is expected to feature a mix of new and previously announced games centered around creature catching. According to available information, the Pokémon Gen 10 project could become the main highlight, thanks to its open-world universe and the ability to travel between islands. Since the Teraleak data leak, fans have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of a new game for the Switch 2.
In anticipation of the Pokémon Presents presentation scheduled for February 27, there is active discussion about possible releases for both the Switch and Switch 2 consoles. A list of anticipated titles has surfaced online, including a mention of the Pokémon Wind and Waves project. However, there has been no official confirmation from Nintendo regarding the release of Gen 10.
The Teraleak leak revealed many details about the next mainline Pokémon game. As a result of this major data breach from Game Freak, images and documents related to the new project have become available.
If there are no significant changes in early versions, the events of Pokémon Gen 10 will unfold across a chain of procedurally generated islands inspired by the regions of Southeast Asia. Within this open world, trainers will be able to freely move between these locations.
Screenshots indicate a noticeable improvement in graphics for Wind and Waves compared to previous games like Scarlet and Violet. New gameplay mechanics are expected to refresh the familiar “catch — train — battle” cycle. Weather conditions may influence battles, and Pokémon will be able to harness natural powers. Despite the turn-based format, battles are expected to be more dynamic than in Arceus.
Since the Teraleak leak, players have considered late February 2026 as a likely announcement date. The Pokémon Presents presentation could allow Nintendo to launch the game for Switch 2 in time for the holiday season. With no new 3D Mario or Zelda projects on the horizon, Gen 10 is seen as a key title to boost console sales.
The list also includes projects like Sleep, Unite, Champions, and Pokopia, which may be showcased at the February 27 event. However, with the presentation set to last just 25 minutes, it will be challenging to give equal attention to all projects.
There is a possibility that Nintendo will pre-announce digital versions of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen for Switch, allowing players to revisit the Game Boy Advance era. This move could free up a few minutes to debut the first trailer for Wind and Waves.
