After a recent data analysis, signs have emerged that a version of Monster Hunter Wilds for Switch 2 may be in development. An embedded image showcases a local multiplayer mode designed specifically for Nintendo’s portable console. Capcom has removed some code that previously indicated the game was running on Switch 2, but the image highlighting multiplayer capabilities remains.
At the end of December, convincing evidence of a Monster Hunter Wilds port for Switch 2 was discovered. Upon examining a more recent build, it became clear that Capcom tried to conceal these traces by deleting most references to the console, though they left an illustration revealing details about local multiplayer intact.
The latest findings also suggest the appearance of new creatures likely to be featured in the game. Earlier versions contained code labeled “NSW2 upgrade edition,” but these hints have since been removed, while the illustration revealing key details remains.
The image shows four portable devices that closely resemble Nintendo systems. This illustration, intended to demonstrate local connectivity, may also hint at a GameShare feature. For supported Switch 2 games, owners of the new console will be able to host local multiplayer sessions with up to three other players, requiring only the host to have a copy of the game.
The release of Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2 is considered one of the most anticipated events among fans following industry rumors. The console already enjoys strong support from Capcom, and this lineup will soon expand with Resident Evil Requiem, scheduled for release on February 27. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection and Pragmata are set to launch in March and April, respectively.
Capcom’s internal documentation notes the high popularity of Switch 2, especially in the Japanese market. Launching Monster Hunter Wilds on this platform is seen as a way to boost sales, which have recently declined. The main challenge is to optimize the game for a less powerful system.
Steam Deck users have faced difficulties achieving stable frame rates, although updates have improved performance. The Nintendo portable console supports DLSS technology, which has enabled complex ports like Cyberpunk 2077. Previous Monster Hunter Wilds data analyses revealed traces of Nvidia upscaling technology and realistic performance targets.
For Nintendo players, Monster Hunter Wilds will likely run at up to 1080p and 30 frames per second in docked mode. An official announcement is expected in the coming months.
